The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO), through the tax collection/accounting function, collects and disburses approximately $1B per year. The JPSO is interested in a detail-oriented team player with the business acumen to assist in the agency’s mission in safeguarding business and taxpayer originated  collections and ensuring the accurate and timely re-distribution of funds to municipalities, state agencies, and other stakeholders on a monthly basis.

These positions will require a basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting and reporting for fiduciary activities, financial statements, journal entries, bank reconciliation, merchant account processing protocol, and process flows, as well as the ability to create and or revise policies and procedures, flow charts, checklists, workpapers, schedules, and other deliverables designed to improve internal controls, including operational effectiveness and efficiency in a regulated environment.

  • The ability to verbally communicate, articulate, and or document various possible outcomes based on established and or optional business process flows within a designated scope of operations.

Minimal Requirement(s):

  • A High School Diploma or a General Equivalency Degree
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Two (2) Plus Years of Full-Time Work Experience in a Business-Focused Environment

Salary Range:

The salary for this position ranges between $42,000  and $65,000 commensurate with work experience, internships, professional certifications, technical skills, proficiency, education, and other factors.
